New Program Giving Free YMCA Access to Winnipeg's Youth
The YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg, in collaboration with the City of Winnipeg, has launched the 'Open Y' program, providing free access to the downtown YMCA for youth aged 13 to 17.
This initiative offers a safe, welcoming space without membership fees, allowing young people to participate in sports programs, community events, and leadership development activities. The program aims to foster positive relationships and self-esteem among Winnipeg's youth.
$2.4M of Cocaine Seized at Winnipeg Airport
Winnipeg police seized 24 kilograms of cocaine worth $2.4 million from luggage at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport. The operation was part of an investigation into a drug trafficking network in Winnipeg supplying traffickers in Brandon.
Two women, Rosemary Amanda Ogoms and Jayde Renee King, were arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. Both were released on undertakings.
Big Bounce Event in Winnipeg Postponed One Week
The Big Bounce event, initially scheduled for July 27-28 at Assiniboia Downs, has been postponed by a week due to a scheduling conflict.
The event, featuring massive inflatable attractions, will now take place from August 2-4. Ticket holders were notified via email and can either attend the new dates or apply for a refund.

The Winnipeg Fringe Festival, North America’s second-largest Fringe Festival, concludes this weekend with a diverse array of performances. Held in the historic Exchange District, the festival showcases over 170 local, national, and international theatre companies. From comedy and drama to improv and dance, there’s something for everyone.
